The Joy of Wandering: Why the Best Days at Bricker Village Aren’t Planned

See where an afternoon at Bricker Village can take you, with unexpected finds, locally owned shops, antiques, handmade goods, wine, dining, and more.

There’s something to be said for a day without much of a plan.

No reservations to race toward. No checklist of places you have to see. Just a little time to wander, follow whatever catches your eye, and see where the day takes you.

That kind of afternoon feels right at home at Bricker Village.

Tucked just north of downtown Lititz at the intersection of Routes 501 and 322, the Village brings together a collection of locally owned shops, specialty businesses, food, wine, antiques, and more in one walkable setting. You might arrive looking for one thing and leave having discovered three others you never knew you needed.

And really, that’s part of the fun.

Start Anywhere

There’s no right way to explore Bricker Village.

Maybe a window display leads you into a shop you’ve never visited before. Maybe the restored barn filled with antiques is your first stop. Or perhaps the promise of handmade chocolates decides where you’re headed before you’ve even made it very far.

The mix of Bricker Village shops makes it easy to follow your interests as you go. Second Story Style offers gently pre-owned consignment clothing, accessories, and curated home decor, while Glass Accents Etc. features art glass from more than 150 artists. At Roots to Wings Studio & Designs, locally made goods and creative experiences put the work of area artisans front and center.

Then there are the places you may wander into simply because they look interesting.

Wishing Well Candles & Gifts brings hand-poured, small-batch candles into the mix. Salon Synergy pairs salon and spa services with its own boutique. And beginning September 11, there will be a new shop to explore. LaneyBell Home & Gift is joining Bricker Village with a curated collection of home décor, gifts, and pretty little finds, just in time for fall.

That’s the beauty of shopping without a list. Sometimes the best find is the one you weren’t searching for.

You Never Know What You’ll Find

Anyone who loves antiquing already knows the thrill of spotting something unexpected.

At Bricker Village, there are two places to do some serious treasure hunting. Brickerville Antiques Barn fills 3,300 square feet across two floors of a restored 1857 barn, while Barrel House Antiques offers another opportunity to browse pieces with a little history behind them.

Elsewhere in the Village, the surprises take different forms.

You might find a piece of handmade art that belongs in your home, a candle scent you can’t stop thinking about, or a bottle from Cullari Vineyards & Winery to open later. With more than 35 varieties of small-batch Pennsylvania wine, even choosing a bottle can become part of the adventure.

And then there’s Lorah’s Handmade Chocolates & Gifts, where stopping in “just to look” has a funny way of ending with hand-dipped chocolates coming home with you.

No complaints there!

Make Room for a Little Extra

Some days at Bricker Village come with a little something extra.

Throughout the year, the Village hosts community events, creative workshops, seasonal activities, Young Makers Markets, and its annual Fall Fest. Checking the Bricker Village events calendar before your visit might reveal something happening that day or give you an excuse to come back for another outing.

During the warmer months, 32 Below Ice Cream Shop is open seasonally from spring through Labor Day. A cone enjoyed outside can be a pretty good addition to the afternoon.

Getting around is easy, too. Bricker Village offers ample free parking and covered courtyard walkways, so moving between shops is simple even when the weather doesn’t completely cooperate.

Just remember that the businesses are independently owned and operated, so individual shop hours vary. It’s always a good idea to check with the places you especially want to visit before heading out.

Stay for a Meal

Eventually, all that exploring tends to work up an appetite.

Brickerville House Restaurant sits at the heart of the Village, making breakfast, lunch, or dinner an easy addition to the day. The family-owned restaurant serves homestyle meals in the historic Brickerville House, with menus ranging from breakfast classics and burgers to sandwiches, salads, hearty dinners, desserts, and more.

You can make the restaurant your starting point before visiting the shops, stop for lunch somewhere in the middle, or settle in for dinner once you’ve finished browsing.

There’s no itinerary required.

See Where the Day Takes You

If you’re looking for things to do in Lititz, PA, sometimes the answer doesn’t need to involve a packed schedule.

Come to Bricker Village with an afternoon open and no particular agenda.

Browse the antiques. Step inside a boutique you’ve never visited. Admire something handmade. Pick out chocolates for later, find a new favorite wine, or check the calendar to see what’s happening around the Village.

You may come home with something you never planned to buy.

Or you may simply leave with a few new favorite places to visit next time.

Either way, wandering was kind of the point.
